University College Dublin
University College Dublin was founded in 1851 as part of the Catholic University of Ireland; it opened in 1854. The school became a separate entity in 1881 and was run by Jesuits. In 1908, it became non-denominational, received its Charter, and was linked with Cork and Galway University Colleges to form the National University of Ireland. Today, UCD is a vibrant, modern university situated on a spacious and leafy campus some 3 miles to the south of Dublin city centre. UCD has modern buildings and first class academic and sporting facilities as well as comprehensive student support services, including a student health centre, student advisors, counseling, and careers advisory facilities. The University is research-intensive, striving to advance knowledge through cutting-edge research and to communicate knowledge through excellence in teaching within a creative and collegial environment.

Approximately 12,000 undergraduates attend UCD.

The quality of the school and programs are good, an excellent experience to go abroad. Lot of cultural exposure and a great time spending with the Irish. Don't make the same mistake I did though and stay on campus!

The rates for living on campus (comparatively with the same type of accommodation in the same area, considering the cost for room alone, minus the negligible difference in utilities, etc.) are much higher (about 50% higher). There is no sense of accountability or fair treatment from the administration of on-campus living either. There are a great deal of rules and fees for which they will bill you without any measure for filing a dispute over how they were applied.

overall pretty darn great

School was great, loved traveling abroad. Think it would have been better if I was living on campus. But they couldn't fit every int'l student so I was living with all int'l ids not Irish students. Overall, great experience, good classes, city, etc.

University College Dublin has a lot of issues. It's a completely disorganized administration for students coming from abroad.

There was a complicated system for transferring credits. The academics at the university were sub-par. There was also too much socialization with other Americans studying abroad there.
